What is a solar generator?

A solar generator uses the sun to produce voltage. Unlike a diesel generator, our batteries produce no fumes and can be recharged indefinitely from our mobile solar array.

What is the capacity of the fastfold solar generators?

The capacity of solar generators when fully charged is 10 kWh. This will determine what appliances you can use and how long you can use them for, using our generator.

An appliance which uses 200 watts can be used for 50 hours without recharging the generator.

How long can you use the 10 kWh Solar generator?

If using a maximum continuous AC output of 2.88 kWh it will last about 3-4 hours.

If you are using 1kWh it will take about 10 hours without need of charging.

How can I know how much power will I need?

How much power one requires depends on the appliances to be used. Each appliance has a power rating (watts) which is multiplied by how many hours your will use that appliance. That will give the total approximate power required. For example, a laptop (using 50 watts) can be charged for 4 hours 50 times. 50(watts)X(4hours) = 0.2 KilowattHours.

10KwH / 0.2 = 50

Therefore you could charge a laptop up to 50 times without having to plug the generator into the mobile solar array

What Is A Kilowatt-hour (kWh) And What Can It Power?

A kilowatt-hour, otherwise known as a kWh, is a way to measure how much energy you’re using. A kWh equals the amount of energy you would use by keeping a 1,000-watt appliance running for one hour.

For instance, if you turned on a 100-watt bulb, it would take 10 hours to use one kilowatt-hour of energy. A 2,000-watt appliance, on the other hand, would only take half an hour. It all comes down to dividing the number of watts in an appliance into 1,000.

What’s the difference between kWh and kW?

kW stands for kilowatt. A kilowatt is simply 1,000 watts, which is a measure of power. A kilowatt hour (kWh) is a measure of energy. So, a 1,000-watt drill needs 1,000 watts (1 kW) of power to make it work, and uses 1 kWh of energy in an hour. That’s why, if you leave a TV or computer on standby, it is still using power and creating.

What is KVA?

KVA is kilo-volt-ampere. The KVA is a unit of electrical power.

1 kilo-volt-ampere is equal to 1000 volt-ampere.

Calculated as 1 KVA = volt x ampere.

KVA is referred to as the apparent power of a generator.

Do I Calculate How Many kWh an Appliance Uses?

You can calculate how much power an appliance uses with a simple exercise.

1. Look for a tag on the appliance and note down the number of watts consumed by that appliance

2. Estimate how many hours a day you use that appliance.

Multiply one by the other to work out the number of KwH (KiliwattHours) the appliance will use.

What are advantages of using solar generators

No Noise: There is no engine nor moving parts in solar generators which cuts out the biggest source of noise pollution that all conventional fuel-powered portable generators have.

Multiple Power Sources: Can be charged by power sources other than solar power such as basic power sources are regular AC electricity from a wall outlet or from a small fuel-powered generator.

No Fumes: Solar power generators do not release any fumes making them the safest option, even safe enough for indoor use.

Environmentally Friendly: Solar power is one of the most environmentally friendly

renewable energy sources. Offsetting 2.7 kg of carbon dioxide per hour, if compared to diesel powered generators.

Portable: Can be used anywhere at any time using a small van or even a tricycle.

How safe is it to use?

The Fast Fold solar generator/hub has an inbuilt integrated circuit protection device and emergency off switch mechanism, which makes it very safe to use. We also provide you with trained fastfold energy staff to set the equipment up at your location, for added safety.

How much does the unit cost to lease?

Our rates are determined by two things.

1. How long do you need to use the system?
2. How much electricity will you use?

For example, a simple back-up generator (including set-up, delivery, and supervision) for a 6 hour event would cost $100.

Equally, the same unit, used for 60 days being used for only 3 hours per day would cost less than $60 per day due to the time it is being leased for.
